Samsung Galaxy Watch 3 review In 2021

Samsung Galaxy Watch 3 Review: In the smart wearable segment, Samsung has had a good presence. Now that Huawei isn’t releasing so many products in India, the Android ecosystem has a strong window to dominate the market. A significant role can be played by the recently released Samsung Galaxy smartWatch 3.

It was also launched at a moment when a big jump in the smartphone segment was made by the South Korean electronics giant.

There are many features on the Galaxy Watch 3, such as SpO2 and VO2 Max readings, dropping detection, several watch faces, and more. You ought to pay a fee to receive any of these. But should you, though? In our Samsung Galaxy Watch 3 study, let’s find out.

Prices and Models:

Not everybody’s cup of tea is the Samsung Galaxy Watch 3. The host of premium characteristics comes at an expense. For the Bluetooth and 4G models, the 41mm dial version of the watch is priced at Rs 29,990 and Rs 34,490. The watch was also released with the Bluetooth version with a 45mm dial variant that costs Rs 32,990 and Rs 38,990 for the 4G variant.

Galaxy Watch 3 competes only against Apple Watch SE and Apple Watch 6 with few alternatives in the category – both more fitting for iOS users.

Samsung Galaxy Watch 3 Performance:

Like the regular all-day heart rate monitoring, onboard GPS, heart rate, and sleep monitoring, the Samsung Galaxy Watch 3 comes with a plethora of features.

Above that, you also get fancy features like the option to monitor your VO2 max and 40 forms of exercises, seven of which are automatically identified by the watch. Running, biking, treadmill, circuit exercise, elliptical training, climbing, cycling are all included.

The watch is powered by a dual-core Exynos 9110 processor with 1GB of RAM and 8GB of internal memory. There is also an accelerometer, a barometer, a gyroscope, a monitor for ambient light, and NFC.

It runs on a TizenOS of Samsung’s own. The user interface is very neat, making it simple even for first-time users to use. The navigation, too, is very fluent. Both the touch and the bezel responds very well.

The Galaxy Watch 3 does a fine job as far as data collection goes. Whether it was phase tracking, sleep analysis, or heart rate monitoring, most measurements were correct. The new SpO2 sensor that helps monitor the levels of blood oxygen is now available.

In Samsung Fitness, all the health data gathered by the watch is accessible and described in a very tidy and clean manner. The UI of the app is neat and self-explanatory, too.

Although much of the features above can be seen on watches that cost even less than watch 3, the 4G LTE connection is what you need to spend for. I used the Galaxy Watch LTE for nearly two months last year and found the e-SIM functionality very helpful. And, it starts with Watch 3 of the Cosmos. It helps you to register an e-SIM and take calls from the watch or respond to messages.

Design and Display:

The Samsung Galaxy Watch 3 has a traditional-spherical display. I always prefer the circular dial on the rectangle used by Apple and others. But, again it may be a personal choice and your preference. The size of the display also depends on personal choice and wrist size.

On the right side of the clock, you will find two physical buttons – the first is to start or stop work and the second is to return to the home screen. There was also a microphone at the same time. On the back, you get an optical heart rate monitor and a charging sensor.

The biggest attraction of the watch is the rotating bezel, which is quiet and very useful. It allows you to switch between different menus from the home screen and access apps, control music, heart rate, and more. If you have used a Samsung smartwatch in the past, using this bezel is not a challenge.

There is also an always-on display mode that allows you to check certain details without using the watch. The problem is the battery life of the drain. Disabling this mode will give you better services as the battery is not very high.

The screen size is suitable for reading messages, emails, and making calls. The colors on the display are very vibrant and most watch faces only add charm. Samsung ate the usual silicone-based straps for a more durable leather strap. You can change it according to your fit and need.

Samsung Galaxy Watch 3 Battery Life:

The poor battery life is one huge problem I have with Samsung. The manufacturer reported that the Galaxy Watch 3 could last about two days. But, I have not been able to get more than 30 hours out of it, which means you have to charge the watch every day, particularly if you have started going out. This is an environment where Samsung will make potential changes.
